Prep Pupils were visited by the boys from Truro Cathedral Choir on Monday this week. Just like Sing2G7, the visit was part of an outreach project being undertaken by the choristers, to lead and inspire children across the country.
Helped by the Director of Music for Truro Cathedral, Mr Chris Gray, the choristers first performed a beautiful rendition of Magnificat by Malcolm Archer. They then led the Prep School (Years 2 to 6) in learning a blessing that had been shared and used by the Archbishop of Canterbury in his recent visit to Cornwall;
From Hugh Town to Liskeard
From Falmouth to St Agnes
From the ocean to the orchard
God’s blessing go with you.
Having mastered the words and learnt some brilliant tips to enhance enunciation and sound, our pupils were given a chance to adapt the blessing to a unique Truro School Prep version;
From Feock to Portreath
From Newquay to St Austell
From the clay pits to the mine-shafts
God’s blessing go with you
Head of Prep, Sarah Patterson, said of the assembly, “It was a lovely time of singing and collaborating together. We are thrilled that three of our current Year 3 boys will be joining the Cathedral Choir in September as probationers.”
