"I enjoy the extensive, beautifully landscaped school grounds, where it's quiet and safe. And teachers can keep a friendly eye on you if needed."
Hi, my name is Marley,
I’m a fifth year from Lithuania. I’ve been at Truro School for two years now. The more I experience, the more I enjoy due to Truro School’s many opportunities ranging from activities, clubs, galleries, sports and lessons.
I like geology and art; I chose Truro School because it provides exceptional learning conditions in these fields. For example, geology lessons are held in classrooms but also out on fieldtrips. I can paint in clubs and display my art in the Haseltine Gallery. Encouragement from my teachers has allowed me to open many doors, exploring new subjects, experiences and independence, which has shaped me into today’s person.
I like that Truro School provides much knowledge and development in all subjects. Lessons like chemistry are held in professional laboratories with excellent facilities for conducting experiments, especially for A-levels and layered visual materials used throughout studies, which helps me to understand the theoretical material even better.
In my opinion, the advantage of this school is not only tackling different types of learning techniques but also Truro School’s surroundings are simple in wide open space, great for new students. Departments like the Burrell Theatre allow creativity to flow, and student productions give opportunities to perform and enjoy other students’ work. International students can take their own language exams and help with university applications.
And, of course, there is a huge range of activities for those who love sports. Where not only will you find a greater chance of finding a more preferable sport than your current favourite because there are so many of them, but you also get to compete with other schools.
Truro School has provided some of the best academic teachers who inspire with their strength of knowledge. Since I live in the boarding house, it was essential to my parents that I’d be cared for and supported to live here safely. They have not been disappointed.
I enjoy the extensive, beautifully landscaped school grounds, where it’s quiet and safe. And teachers can keep a close eye on you if needed. There are many boarding house school activities; we can drive, travel, see cities, band eaches and have fun playtimes in house meet-ups on cold rainy evenings. We can all spend time together playing games, cooking, watching movies and enjoying snacks.
My favourite time is leisure time as it’s a meaningful way to learn about other people, their culture, behaviour and traditions. I am a new person with a broad perspective.

Curiosity to always want to discover and learn more, academically and more widely too.
Because we believe that academic excellence is an important part of human excellence. Every child is an individual and we celebrate and develop their uniqueness, helping them to become an independent learner and encouraging each child to explore, understand and cultivate their talent and abilities, whatever they may be.
Compassion to understand and champion the needs of others, in our community and beyond.
Because our mission challenges us to be a vibrant community which enables people to live their lives to the full and transform society for the better. Located in the heart of Cornwall, our distinctive, serene location supports the development of balanced, unpretentious and reflective children who understand their role as global citizens.
Confidence to build resilience by learning from both successes and failures alike.
Because we want every pupil to be comfortable in their own skin, celebrating the uniqueness of each individual in the school community. Through drama, presenting and public speaking opportunities, as well as appearing in productions and concerts, pupils learn key communication skills and gain the confidence to prosper in the real world.
Creativity to be imaginative in how we express ourselves and approach new challenges.
Because we value the development of pupils’ imaginative and creative dimensions as well as their characters. Through a broad curriculum and wide range of co-curricular activities, pupils discover the important balance between creative and logical thinking. These opportunities are fundamental to ensuring your son or daughter discovers their hidden gifts, developing a sense of individuality and a confidence in their own abilities.
Courage to enjoy becoming the very best of who we are, with integrity and ambition.
Because we believe that essential life skills are often best taught outside of the classroom, balancing an academic education. Through a wide-ranging co-curricular programme, we offer every child the chance to participate, perform and lead in the fields of their choice. In a competitive world these opportunities are fundamental to ensuring your son or daughter develops essential life skills and an ambition for life.
