Sports Round up of the Week

Exciting news on the sports front! Our 1st XI hockey team delivered a great performance against a tough Mount Kelly, and our U16s gave their all in the fourth round of the National Netball Cup, competing fiercely on home ground against Newton Abbot College.

Well done to everyone for contributing to these performances, the effort and team spirit were commendable. A big thank you to all the pupils and staff who turned out to support our teams.

The Under 13 rugby side attended an excellent day of rugby at the Mount Kelly 10-a-side tournament. Facing new and challenging opposition, the player’s attitude and efforts were rewarded with outstanding performances and scores. They won the pool, beating Exeter School, Mount Kelly A, West Buckland B and Blundells B.

The team faced a difficult challenge against Stover in the semi-finals; always in control, the team’s ability to move the ball into space saw them win 20-10 and set up a final against the unbeaten Blundells A in the final, which, due to some incredible team play were rewarded with a 10-5 win.  MVP was awarded to Olly S.

In Netball, 2^nd & 4th Year teams travelled to Bournemouth to compete in round 3 of the Sisters n Sport Netball competition. The 2^nd Years played a competitive game with excellent play from both teams. Congratulations to Talbot Heath for the win, but well done to the entire Truro School squad for not giving up and displaying amazing resilience in attack and defence. The player of the match went to Matilda for some outstanding play.

The 4^th Years played a great match, with Truro School taking the lead in the second quarter, 18-12. The team grew in confidence and strength, playing some fantastic netball. Their opponents fought back hard, but Truro School continued to show brilliant drive and determination to finish with a win of 38-22.

In cross-country, Kenny took part in the 3rd round of the Westward League Cross Country Cup in Exeter. He took 4th place in the U17 race after a tough run around 6km of extremely muddy terrain and retained 2nd place in the league overall. Congratulations Kenny.

For our youngest hockey players in Years 5 & 6 Prep, seeing great teamwork, passion and determination at Truro High School this week was wonderful. Despite the chilly temperature and biting wind, our teams had a blast – scoring plenty of goals and developing their understanding of the game throughout the afternoon. Well done to everyone who played. You were great ambassadors for our school. Our A team won their game 4-1, and our B team won their game 3-0. 

Congratulations to everyone mentioned here and the many others who have represented Truro School this week in sport. You do us proud every week.
