In a galaxy far, far away, the WAA wargaming group have been working on the armies that will conquer and save the galaxy. Painting the legion forces is a great mindful activity for some of our WAA Wargames attendees, and the scale of the task should not be underestimated. Henry D and Aiden P have been steadily enhancing the school’s Star Wars Legion collection with vibrant colours and intricate details. This is a hugely popular sci-fi skirmish game in which squads of 1:48 scale troopers and heroes manoeuvre over a miniature battlefield to contest control of critical points.
In a separate gaming session, a group of Sixth Formers engaged in X-Wing, another highly popular Star Wars skirmish game featuring iconic starfighters like X-Wings and Tie Fighters. In this thrilling game, players piloted factions ‘Scum and Villainy,’ pitting one ruthless band of space pirates against another.
In a different galaxy, another group of pupils was transported to Puerto Rico, where a tactical resource-management game challenged players to build the most efficient and profitable farm plantations.
These afternoon sessions, hosted by Dr Spring, offer a delightful blend of escapism, tactics, teamwork, and fun. If anyone is interested in Wargaming and has not chosen it as a WAA activity, they are warmly invited to join the club on Wednesdays and Fridays after school.
