Some of our pupils kicked off their Easter holidays with a trip to Vale do Lobo Tennis and Golf Resort on the Algarve. The pupils enjoyed a week in the sun playing some great tennis and staying in the Ria Park Hotel.
The pupils enjoyed 5 days of elite tennis coaching where our players focused on the technical basics of the game, tactics and movement during the mornings, before splitting off for the afternoon for the amateur players to learn how to play singles and doubles whilst the more advanced team players learnt more advanced tactics and competed against Bradfield College.
The pupils also enjoyed lots of other activities including, lots of pool time, early morning gym sessions, Mr Sanderson’s quizzes, card games and padel tennis.
The final day’s tennis included an exhibition singles match between 2 of the pros followed by Truro School’s Buzz stepping in for a doubles match versus one of the coaches and a Watford pupil. The losers forfeit was to jump in the pool fully clothed. The result… Buzz stayed dry, until he didn’t! Well done Buzz!
Mr Askey, Truro School Head Tennis Coach, said:
“It was a pleasure to take such super young people on the trip. The trip, which is now in its fourth year, was designed to help everyone in our group improve and enjoy their tennis, from county team players to players new to the game. Thank you to Phil and his 5 Star coaching team, plus operations leaders Pat and Sonya, for looking after us so well.”
A huge thank you to all the staff who made the trip possible.
