The Chapel was filled with wondrous sounds as Truro School hosted the phenomenal Svanholm Singers. The group is visiting Cornwall from Sweden for the 2024 Cornwall International Male Choral Festival (CIMCF).
Our lucky 1st Years were joined by pupils from other local schools for a community outreach workshop (supported by Cornwall Music Service Trust, CMST), organised by Gareth Churcher and Angela Renshaw. The workshop began with a striking performance in Swedish from the Svanholm Singers, which left many of our pupils open-mouthed at the incredible sound.
Angela Renshaw was then joined by Josh to lead a vocal warm-up of “This is Home”. Sung in Cornish, this was a wonderful chance to share our heritage with our Swedish visitors. Once the children had learnt the melody, the Svanholm Singers added a low drone, creating a memorable and spine-tingling sound that filled the Chapel.
We were proud to have been a part of this programme to immerse young people in music-making from other cultures and would like to thank Gareth, Angela, Josh and the Svanholm Singers for bringing this event to life.
