Start of Term Sports Roundup

The new sporting year has commenced with great enthusiasm, with a strong focus on rugby and netball. Last weekend featured thrilling rugby matches against Mount Kelly and Wellington School, a fixture that brought together over 300 students from the three schools. This event showcased remarkable teamwork, resilience, and passion as students represented their schools with pride. Notably, Truro’s U14s celebrated a birthday for Henry S, who capped off the game by scoring the final try.

On Friday night, the Truro School 1st XV took to the illuminated pitches, competing admirably against Mount Kelly, Wellington, and Launceston. The team displayed commendable skill, achieving one win and one loss, and they are already looking forward to their next match.

In netball, it has been encouraging to see a high level of participation across various fixtures. The U16 netball team travelled to Plymouth for their inaugural Sisters n Sport shield match against Devonport High School, while the U15 team faced Parkstone Grammar in their first cup game of the season. The U13 team secured a victory against Penrice Academy on Tuesday, and the U14, U16, and U18 teams engaged in their annual fixtures against Maynard School during Wednesday Afternoon Activities, with the U14s emerging victorious.

Additionally, the U15 netball team competed against Parkstone Grammar in Poole, demonstrating exceptional effort against a challenging opponent. The 1st-5th Years also participated in a successful home fixture against Penair School, marking their first netball match at Truro School.

On Sunday, Kenny completed his first road half marathon, the Truro Half, finishing an impressive 22nd overall with a time of 1 hour and 28 minutes.

Overall, this has been a fantastic start to the rugby and netball season, engaging numerous pupils. We are thrilled with the enthusiasm, resilience, and positivity displayed so far. Well done, and keep up the great work, Truro School!
