A Culture of Kindness

It has been a busy week for pastoral care, with Anti-Bullying Week, Interfaith Week and World Kindness Day all taking place.

Our Truro School Chaplain, Rev Helen, has orchestrated activities at the Senior School, with an assembly focusing on anti-bullying and the importance of showing each other respect. Rev Helen showcased the effects of bullying over time, with a symbolic branch. By removing the leaves one at a time, she showed how bullying can break down the very essence of a person.

Pupils Jasmine, John and Daisy were invited to the stage to revive the branch and show that being kind, compassionate and respectful can help restore confidence and self-worth. The message was also shared with our Prep Pupils, who have been encouraged to share acts of kindness with peers across the week.

The key takeaways for the week have been perfectly summed up with The Golden Rule; to ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ As it is also Inter-faith week, it has been the perfect time to remind our School Community that all of the main world faiths promote the belief that everyone matters and should be treated with dignity and respect.

Encouraged to create a “culture of kindness”, our 3rd Year pupils have engaged in a PSHEE poster assignment to make anti-bullying posters for a competition led by Mrs Holman, while our 1st and 2nd Year pupils wore odd socks to celebrate diversity.

Truro School is proud to be a school that offers a values-based education and roots kindness and compassion into our lives, not just this week, but in everything we do.
