It has been another busy week for all of our pupils in Truro School Pre-Prep as our pupils marked Remembrance Day and took part in a range of exciting lessons and activities.
In Nursery, the children decorated poppies with different textured materials. They have also been exploring the number 3 this week and focussing on showing kindness to their peers.
Reception watched an animation about Remembrance Day and talked about why we commemorate it before they made paper poppies. In literacy, they have been exploring words that rhyme and writing them down. In maths, the children have been practising division using objects.
Following on from an exciting Tudor day, our Year 1 pupils have been gearing up for Thursday’s Princess and the Pea performance. They have continued to practise songs from the show and have used the traditional tale as inspiration for their literacy, writing alternative endings for the story. In maths, they have been learning about fact families and how to find them. A fact family is a group of calculations created with three numbers. For example, 3, 4 and 7:
3 + 4 = 7
4 + 3 = 7
7 – 3 = 4
7 – 4 = 3
After a de-light-ful Diwali celebration last week, our Year 2 pupils have been diving into their school play rehearsals and are showing fantastic confidence as they practise their songs and words.
