3rd and 4th Year’s Empowered by MiY Portfolio

3rd and 4th Year pupils have been taking part in our new and exciting Middle School Programme, known as the MiY Portfolio programme.

The portfolio is made up of five literacies: Cognitive, Digital, Social, Wellbeing and Futures. Currently 4th Year pupils are working on a project relating to

  • Finance
  • Wellbeing
  • Leadership, coaching and teamwork
  • Citizenship, politics and governance
  • Property and Business

Each small group has established a Team Leader, and they are working together to produce a presentation to showcase to their peers. Pupils have been researching their chosen subject and devising a name for the project. One group in the citizen sector are working to a title of ‘The Political Compass’. Each team will be evaluated based on three criteria: delivery, content, and teamwork, with outcomes ranging from competent, literate, fluent, to ingenious.

The aim of the programme is to tailor personalised discussions about their futures, identify strengths and interests, provide guidance in developing essential literacies, inspire career paths aligned with their interests  and document evidence for future pathways.

The MiY Portfolio programme also allows pupils to document their achievements both within and outside of school, celebrating individuality, accomplishments, and personal growth. In the first year, First Awards are granted based on literacy levels achieved, leading up to Final Awards in the third year. The portfolio is designed to instil confidence in decision-making, foster critical thinking, enhance problem-solving skills, inspire and motivate others, and adapt to technological advancements. The sessions are intended to empower students and unlock their full potential.

We would like to thank Mr Picton and his team for supporting this initiative.
