The Tuesday after school DT group have been creating body surfing hand planes. They sketched their ideas on paper and made card templates before picking out wood scraps from the workshop store. These scraps, made from a variety of woods, were edge-butted together to create their one of a kind designs. After shaping and sanding, the hand planes are coated in resin to protect them from saltwater, and neoprene handles will be added later.
This eco-friendly product, made from leftover workshop materials, really showcases the pupils’ creativity and skills. We can’t wait to hear how they perform in the waves.
