A Shining Christingle

Rev Helen led two heartwarming Christingle services for the children at Truro School Prep and Pre-Prep, creating a memorable experience as she explained the meaning of the Christingle tradition and brought the Christmas story to life.

Through a mix of songs and storytelling, the children explored the symbolism of the Christingle orange in the Christian faith. The orange, representing the world, is encircled by a red ribbon that signifies Jesus’ humanity and divinity and his constant guidance. The four cocktail sticks symbolise the four seasons and corners of the Earth, while the fruits and raisins adorning the orange reflect the sweetness of Christ and remind us of his presence in the communion bread and wine.

Each child received an orange and carefully crafted their own Christingle, finishing their creations by adding a candle to represent the light of Jesus shining in the world. The result was a magical service filled with joy and wonder, providing a special opportunity for the children to connect with the Christmas story in a meaningful way.

A huge thank you goes to Rev Helen and the wonderful Sixth Form helpers who supported the Pre-Prep children so brilliantly in crafting their Christingle oranges.
