Fabulous Flamenco at Prep

Our lucky Year 3 and 4 pupils have been enjoying learning the art of flamenco dancing as a part of their Spanish lessons.

Led by professional instructor Claudia Caolin of Flamenco Cornwall, our pupils first learnt about the history and key elements of this traditional dance, which consists of four elements: cante (meaning singing), toque (the percussive style of guitar playing typical of flamenco), dancing, and palmas (percussive handclapping).

They were then given the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice on the dance floor, and our pupils certainly relished the workshops, showing great confidence and courage as they danced and had fun together. Claudia was very impressed by their enthusiasm and energy and how quickly each group picked up some of the basic steps.

Thanks to our MFL Coordinator, Mrs Fergusson-Cooper for arranging this hands-on learning experience that really helped to bring Spanish culture to life at Truro School Prep. ¡Olé!
