Dear Parents & Carers,
Once again, the range of opportunities at Truro School Prep astounds me, and this week’s activities have included events as diverse as Cornish history trips, regional sports competitions, swimming galas, Plastic Free Schools/Eco-assemblies and, latterly, Comic Relief.
The primary focus has, however, been Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and Mrs Waddling-Height has led a series of educational assemblies and activities. You may have seen some colourful umbrellas adorning the roundabout on Thursday. Further information on Neurodiversity Celebration Week can be found in the School News section of this Bulletin. On the topic of diversity in general, I thought that you might enjoy this week’s Quote of the Week from Justin Young: ‘The fact that we are all different is the one thing we all have in common.’
Looking to the future, we will shortly share with you the exciting schedule for the Truro School Prep Book Week 2025. I take this opportunity to thank Miss Cad for arranging a spectacular array of events. Entitled ‘Out of the Blue’ and with a focus on helping to promote a lifelong love of reading, we look forward to events including talking and writing workshops, lectures on water safety and lifeguarding, life on the sea, sub-sea construction, a round-Britain row and underwater safari. Visits are also planned from the National Coast Watch, British Marine Life Rescue, Beach Guardians, Pendennis Shipyard, a PADI dive master and several parents and friends of the school. As if that was not enough, we will welcome the Squash Box Theatre Company for their Under the Sea production, Will Keating working on sea shanties with the children, our dressing up day on April 2nd, theatre workshops, All about the Blue art, street libraries, Jackanory corners and our very own Words and Musical Interludes.
Looking further into the future and specifically to the cricket season, I am delighted to inform you that the next few weeks will see the installation of our new cricket wicket. The ‘test grade’ 30m artificial wicket will allow us to further develop the children’s cricket skills and to play host to many more matches here at Truro School Prep. It really does feel as though summer is on its way!

Before embarking on the cricket wicket, the Grounds team have been hard at work moving and chipping the trees and branches that were brought down in the winter storms. Part of this process included moving the remaining logs to the woods on the right-hand side of the main entrance drive and offering them to you as parents should you wish to add to your stocks for future winters (they will certainly need seasoning). My apologies for sounding even more like a Headmaster than usual, but should you wish to take us up on this offer, I must put some parameters in place:
· Firstly, this is an offer for all to add to their existing supplies, and not for a small number to remove industrial amounts. I suggest taking enough to fill your car boot or a small trailer. Please refrain from utilising large trailers, lorries and commercial vehicles!
· Secondly, logs can only be picked up at the following times (where the caretaker will be on site): Saturday, 22nd March and Saturday, 29th of March from 0830 to 1100.
· Please remove the logs as they are. Please, absolutely no sawing or chopping of wood on the school site.
· Please only remove wood from the marked area and not from the woodland in general.
· Please take care and look after yourself. The school can take no responsibility for any injuries or incidents.
· The caretaker can be contacted on 07787426446.
Whether you are preparing for future winters, looking forward to summer or simply taking whatever the weather will bring, I wish you all a very happy weekend with your lovely children.
With every good wish,
Rob Morse

Food Allergy Awareness
A reminder that no food from home should be brought into school, unless you have prior consent from Mrs Cameron.
This includes snacks or treats for activities that run before, during or after school, both on and off-site.
Within our Prep family, we have children and adults with severe allergies and it is our duty to look after all of our community.
Sincere thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
