The year’s Prep Christmas Concert harnessed the vocal and instrumental abilities of the whole school to deliver an inclusive, fun and festive performance for friends and family.
The evening started with the procession of lanterns across the charmingly decorated hall; twinkling Christmas lights and festive wreaths provided a magical backdrop to the parade.
The whole school then celebrated variety, diversity and harmony as they sang ‘Let Love Shine Through’. Next up was the Brass Group, led by Mr Pope with their audience sing-along of ‘Frosty the Snowman’ and ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’. Year 3 then sang ‘Follow that Star’ with beautiful lyrics created by the pupils.
The Orchestra followed with a sparkling rendition of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. Kes M, Lawrence G and Retallack H demonstrated their skilful voices with ‘Walking in the air’ and then the whole of Year 3 sang ‘A little child’. Jessica C’s expert Grade 5 piano solo of ‘Scherzando’ was quite remarkable and followed by a beautiful duet of ‘Silent Night’ by Trystan V and Olliver H,
The Year 5 Boys’ Vocal Group impressed with ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ and Sarang S played a lovely Violin Solo ‘Rondeau’.
The whole of Year 5 followed with “Tell me a story shining star’ with instrumentals by Clara C, Lilly L, Ayesha P and Lara P. Ayesha P also performed a very adept guitar solo. Year 6 then took to the stage with their wonderful ‘Christmas mash’.
To bring the concert to a close, the whole school, accompanied by the Year 6 band and staff, performed a confident and flamboyant ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ whilst lovingly pointing at their families.
A huge thank you to Mrs Renshaw and the music staff for putting on a superb concert and to all the pupils for their enthusiasm.
