On Thursday 30 January, Ruth Ward from the Perranarworthal Local History Group gave a detailed and informative presentation to Year 5 classes on the history and geography of the Bissoe trail. Over the next three weeks all pupils in Year 5 will take part in a coast to coast cycle ride along the Bissoe trail from Portreath to Devoran, as part of their John Muir Award. Ruth’s presentation gave a comprehensive insight into what the trail was originally used for and the landmarks and artefacts that can still be seen today. The children were left enthused to try and spot the evidence of the trail’s mining heritage when they partake in the cycle ride. A big thank you must be said to Ruth for volunteering to present to the children and for giving such an insightful talk.
