With the long bank holiday weekend, an annual favourite in the boarding community, fast approaching, Mr Copeland and I wanted to reach out and reconnect with you and the boarders who we are missing terribly.
Over the years, it has become customary for us to spend the long May Bank Holiday weekend, the only bank holiday weekend to fall in term time, downing tools and coming together as a community. This coming weekend was due to consist of us enjoying a day out at Flambards, Cornwall’s best day of the week and only ‘theme’ park, a joint BBQ and a charity challenge. Although circumstance, and distance, keep us apart this year we are keen to continue with our plan.
As you know, Truro School closed its classroom doors and took up remote teaching, on Friday 20th March, with the very last of our boarders departing on Saturday 28th. Since then Pentreve, Poltisco, Malvern and Trennick have remained eerily empty; the resident staff that live on site and the broader boarding staff team are missing the buzz that comes with having full houses and hope that taking part in the challenge will bring a sense of togetherness and distraction whilst also raising money for a good cause.
With seventy-five boarders on the school roll at February half term, we have decided to dub this charity challenge ‘Challenge 75’ and aim to raise as much money for the NHS, who are doing a tremendous job on the Coronavirus front line, as possible. Whether it be an individual challenge to complete 75 press-ups, a family challenge to bake 75 cupcakes for a local nursing home, or a bigger group challenge to walk, run or cycle 75 kilometres or miles over the three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) we hope that everyone can set themselves a goal and join in.
Other ideas include (but please encourage your son/daughter to be creative, this list is by no means exclusive):
o 75 chin ups
o 75 minutes ironing
o 75 keepy ups
o 75 laps of the garden
o 75 minutes reading
o 75 cookies
o 75 staircase sprints
o 75 minutes colouring
o 75 flips on a trampoline
o 75 tennis volleys against a wall
We hope that your son or daughter will be able to join us in this challenge and look forward to hearing of their ideas and progress. With this in mind, please could I ask you to help document your son or daughters contribution by photo(s) or short video clip. Mr Copeland and I would like to create a montage and I am sure all those that donate to the cause will like to see the efforts that we, collectively, go to.
The following link will take you to a Just Giving page that has been set up to raise sponsorship and receive donations; please do share it with your extended family and friends.

As ever, if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to come back to me; between training (the Mulready family are going to attempt to run 75 miles!), I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Best wishes,
Sarah
