Junior and Senior Boys’ Boarding Blog

This week saw Trennick say farewell and Merry Christmas to a number of boarders, some we will see after Christmas whilst others will finish the education in their homelands. We wish Vincent and Caspar a very fond farewell and hope that we cross paths again soon.

Our 5th Year boarders are busy revising for their mock GCSE exams so have spent a lot of time in the library this week.

With the UK out of full lockdown and Cornwall being given the lowest Tier of Covid restrictions we have been able to give the boarders a little more freedom. On Saturday we went to St. Mawes on The Roseland Peninsular. St Mawes is an old fishing village at the mouth of the River Fal opposite the port of Falmouth. It was a cold and blustery day but very sunny so we grabbed a hot chocolate from a local coffee shop and walked to St Mawes Castle which has wonderful views across to Falmouth. The boys enjoyed throwing the ball for Jonah (Mr Hatfield’s Dog) and having a look in the rock pools at the water’s edge. We came back to Truro via the famous King Harry Ferry, a chain ferry connecting the Roseland to Truro.

Saturday evening was a relaxed affair with the houses feeling somewhat empty. It was Trevor’s Birthday so we had a bit of a sing song and enjoyed some customary cupcakes to celebrate.

Sunday was another wonderfully sunny but cold day in Truro. Lower Trennick took a walk through the fields to get to the local park to play some football but with Truro Centre looking busy we decided to come back to school rather than go to the markets. Upper Trennick utilised the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre and played basketball for a couple of hours.

On Sunday evening, the catering department cooked an amazing Christmas dinner. We all had a wonderful evening in the dining room enjoying the fantastic meal and having many group photos taken.
