As you can see from the photos, the fog rolled in, and we had quite an adventure with Year 5 on their walk on Bodmin Moor.
This wild walk is part of their John Muir award, in which they have to explore, discover and conserve wild spaces. Other similar events this year will include a coast-to-coast cycle ride from Portreath to Devoran, along the Bissoe trail.
The edited highlights of our walk included having a snack on top of the world (near the Cheesewring), scrambling across a boulder field, standing inside a hermit’s hut, seeing trees with lichen beards, finding historic remains from the mining industry, eating lunch inside a beautiful quarry, spotting sheep in the most unlikely places and finding a devil’s coach horse beetle.
