5th Years Get a Taste for Truro School Sixth

Our 5th Year pupils have been getting a valuable insight into life at Truro School Sixth Form during our annual taster days and finding out why Truro School is the leading A-level provider in Cornwall.

Over two days this week, pupils will experience what life is like as a Sixth Former and gain valuable support with their option choices, career paths and post A-level options.

The taster days began today with a talk from Head of Sixth Form, Mr Williamson, followed by various lessons and study periods.

Some of the classes on offer include a Leith’s cookery lesson (with pan-fried duck and potato rosti on the menu), measuring dinosaur prints in Geology and a Future Smart careers lecture.

The Sixth Form at Truro School has been designed to feel very different from the 1st to 5th Years. Students are given more freedom and dedicated spaces, like our Sixth Form Centre and Sixth Form Cafe to relax, study and get together with their peers.

Truro School also offers a new Sixth Form Diploma. It is often the case that securing great results at A-Level isn’t always enough to secure a place at University. Students are increasingly required to demonstrate a wider range of both curricular and supra-curricular achievements, personal growth, leadership and service.

The Diploma, built around the core A-Level offering, is designed to be choice-driven, enabling students to more easily evidence their achievements and developments while providing them with valuable skills beyond schooling or qualifications.

Our Sixth Form also offers a fantastic Careers Service and dedicated teams for Oxbridge applications, Medical Pathways and overseas university applications.

We are excited to see how our Pupils get on during these taster days and wish them every success while choosing their options for the future.
