Hosting Harlequins Rugby Warmup

Truro School were pleased to welcome the Harlequins u18 and u17 Academy teams to our school, as they prepared for their game against the Exeter Chiefs academy.

Fifty-five players and support staff arrived on Friday afternoon to stretch their legs after the bus journey from London, with Quins using the 1st team pitch and sports hall in their preparation.

Director of Sport, Mr Sanderson, said ‘It was an excellent opportunity for us to show off our school to a premiership rugby team and see how impressed they were with our set up and facilities.’

Hosting Harlequins allowed our pupils to catch a glimpse of what a premiership academy player looks like and how they train. We also hosted Saracens during the Christmas break. We hope to continue to be a destination for other premiership academy teams as they prepare for games against Exeter Chiefs.

Hosting these teams strengthens our links with top-class clubs, which enables our pupils who leave us for university, who may look for opportunities further away from Cornwall, to know that we have good working relationships with fantastic teams across a range of sports.
