This second round, held at Pool Academy, is always a step up from the Richard Lander cluster cross-country event. After all, the children who raced at the Peninsula event had already finished in the top eight places in their previous rounds.
The course at Pool Academy was reasonably dry and very flat, which favoured runners with both pace and stamina. With over forty runners in each race, the start lines were the most challenging part. Luckily, all of our runners were able to get a good start in their respective races, which was crucial because only the top 15 runners qualified for the County finals.
Congratulations to all of the children who competed in this event. In particular, Sunny (Year 5) came a close 2nd in the Year 5 boys’ event, and Dan G (Year 6), who ran brilliantly to win the Year 6 boys’ event.
We are very proud of the following ten children who have all qualified for the County finals, which are being held at Newquay Sports centre next Tuesday 22nd March:
Year 4 – Isaac H, George M and Amelia S
Year 5 – Isobel T, Winnie W and Sunny P
Year 6 – William S, James H, Dan G and Max M
