Pupils from Year 4 headed into Truro City Centre to visit Truro Cathedral and Truro Methodist Church as a part of their Humanities studies into different Christian denominations.
At the Cathedral, pupils were tasked with activities such as drawing the ceiling and thinking of different ‘wow words’ to describe its architecture. Pupils were then treated to an exclusive tour by the Dean, Simon Robinson, which included viewing the crypt, a plaster cast of Archbishop Benson’s head, and a demonstration of the Pyx (a small container used to carry the Eucharist to the sick or those unable to attend church), one of only six in the world.
With David as their guide at Truro Methodist Church, pupils discovered more about the building and its history, gaining insights into John Wesley and the beginning of the Methodist denomination.
Pupils were excited to visit these sites and to learn more about their significance in our community. Thanks to the staff at both venues and to our staff and pupils for making the visits so enjoyable and memorable.
