Happy New Year to you all. We hope you have enjoyed having your sons home over the Christmas Period, they have certainly come back positive and full of energy, and it has been lovely to catch up with them all. As we get back into the term and its routines, we took the opportunity to sit down with all the boys and their school reports and plot a plan of targets for the term, focusing on both academic targets, as well as co-curricular and boarding house targets. Targets included achieving consistent 1s and 2s in lessons, as well as improving tidiness of rooms and maintaining reliable attendance to weekly clubs and activities.
Although we have not had any newcomers join us for this term, there have been five new girls joining Pentreve and the boys have been across a couple of times to introduce themselves and help them to feel settled. Our boarding trip this week was to Roller Disco, in the shadow of Carn Brea, in Camborne, including both the Junior Girls’ and Junior Boys’ houses. This warehouse has been converted into a retro 70s Roller Disco hall, playing music and providing other arcade amusement entertainment. Some of the boys took the time when they weren’t roller skating to see how much they could win on these games, achieving a total of 1180 tickets in the end, and cashing them in for edible prizes at the desk before we left. Sadly, the lighting, although atmospheric for disco rolling, was not conducive to good photography, but hopefully you can get some idea from the photos attached.
Other activities this weekend include watching Kong: Skull Island and Rise of the Planet of the Apes in the common room. Next weekend the boys go Quad-biking, which many of them are very excited about.
