Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
During this first week of Advent, our thoughts have naturally turned to Christmas and it is fair to say that the festive season has arrived at Truro School Prep, with buildings adorned with decorations and trees sparkling both inside and out.
Continuing on the festive theme, both the EYFS and Key Stage 1 Nativity performances have taken place and it is clear that we have a considerable number of budding dramatists in our midst. On that note, staging one production in a day is a challenge, presenting two performances within five hours of each other, only to repeat the process the following day is a Christmas miracle in itself!
We have also enjoyed our Christmas carols, particularly those with a Celtic theme. Thursday’s Prep School Celtic Christmas concert held at Truro Methodist Church was a delight and was a testament to the children’s language as well as musical ability.

Continuing on the choral theme, I take this opportunity to congratulate the Prep School Cathedral choristers on their recitals given in advance of the Pre-Prep productions. If you missed the chance to hear them, please do take the opportunity to see and hear them in action at St. Mawes on the afternoon of 16th December or over the forthcoming holiday – they are extremely talented and busy fellows.
Finally, it is a great pleasure to inform you that the past two weeks have seen the Prep School children engaging in their ’Report Reviews’. For the uninitiated this is the opportunity for me, the child and their Form Tutor to spend a little time reviewing their reports. It is also an opportunity to congratulate the children on their progress and identify a few targets for the future. It is with pleasure that I inform you that I have been delighted with the engagement shown by each and every pupil. They have achieved a great deal over the past 14 weeks, are increasingly confident in such situations and are a credit to you all.
The reports will be sent home to you before the end of term and I hope that you will be able to find the time to peruse them with your children. I have also reminded the children to read their reports once again just before they return to school in January – I have always found that this provides the opportunity to remind children of how successful they have been, to refresh their memory as to any challenges set, and to provide a much-needed boost of enthusiasm for the new term when coming to the end of a holiday.
With season’s greetings and every good wish,
Rob Morse

Christmas Cards
Children at Truro School Prep are invited to share Christmas cards with each other. We will have a central post box at the front of the school outside the main office. The cards will then be sorted and handed out towards the end of term.
Please ensure that full names, including surnames, are written on the envelopes as well as the form that the child is in. Last posting day will be Monday 16th December.
Just as a reminder, children should not include any form of sweets or chocolate in the envelopes please.
Truro Foodbank Reverse Advent
A reminder that we are still collecting donations of food and toiletries to help Truro Foodbank, a local charity dedicated to providing essential supplies to families in need.
Suggested Donation Items:
Tinned meat (such as cooked ham, chicken, meatballs, curry or chilli)
Tinned meat pies
Teabags (packs of 40 or 80)
Toilet rolls
Laundry liquid/powder/tablets (small containers)
You can also find inspiration from the traditional reverse advent calendar. Please see the poster in our Upcoming Events section below.
It should be noted that they do not require any Christmas items, so NO mince pies, puddings or variety biscuit boxes, please!
The children have been keen to work on being the donation champions and have already started collecting donations in their class boxes.
There are thermometers to show how much they have collected between the Year 3 classrooms and on the G6 window.
The class that collects the most items by Friday, 13th December will be celebrated as our Donation Champions.
Thank you again for your kindness and support. Together, we can make a real difference and bring a brighter holiday season to those in need.
