The whole school gathered on the first day back to mark the start of the new Spring Term, welcome in the New Year, and to mark an international celebration of light. The service, led by Rev. Helen, reminded us of the Christian festivals of Christmas and Epiphany, as well as many other celebrations taking part at this time of year, including the Jewish festival of Hanukkah and the Yule Winter Solstice.
During Rev Helen’s sermon we were reminded of the four candles of Advent, which represent the four Sundays of Advent, and symbolise hope, peace, joy, and love to hold with us for the coming year.
To close the service, the school chamber choir performed a beautiful rendition of John Rutter’s ‘Nativity Carol’ before the school departed for their afternoon activities in preparation for the busy term that lies ahead.
