Families and pupils gathered at Truro Methodist Church for an evening of song, story and tradition at Truro School Prep’s Celtic Christmas Carol Concert.
Mr Morse kicked off proceedings with a warm welcome and a fascinating overview of Celtic history, reminding everyone of the deep cultural heritage shared by Cornwall and the other six Celtic nations.
Led by Mrs. Renshaw, the audience was then taken on a journey through Christmas in Brittany, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales, Galicia and Cornwall, with poems and memoirs read by pupils, accompanied by a raft of traditional songs performed by individual year groups, The Truro Orchestra, vocal and musical groups and the Prep Choir.
As the voices of our wonderful pupils filled the air, we were reminded of the importance of tradition, music and storytelling in bringing people together. It was a memorable evening that perfectly captured community, culture and a sense of pride in our shared connections as a Cornish school.
We would like to thanks Mrs Renshaw, Mr MacQuarrie, Ms Cad, Mr Dove, Rev Helen and all of the staff who made the evening possible. Special mention must go to all of our musicians, readers, soloists and singers. The courage and confidence shown by all of our pupils was remarkable. It was clear how hard everyone had worked to bring this celebration of the heritage and traditions of a Celtic Christmas to life.
