Cookery, cycling and first aid lessons can only mean one thing: afternoon activities at Truro School Prep! Our Prep pupils have weekly time off-curriculum (Mondays for Years 3 and 4 and Thursdays for Years 5 and 6) to allow them to explore a range of exciting co-curricular activities designed to broaden their skills and challenge and inspire them. We always say that we think our children learn almost as much outside of the classroom as they do inside it.
Some of our Year 6 pupils have been busy in the cookery classroom, creating a Lunar New Year stir fry. Packed full of fresh and healthy ingredients, pupils also had to work around keeping their food stations sanitary when using raw chicken and think about the different cooking times needed to create the perfect stir fry.
Meanwhile, their peers were studying first aid, looking at how to deal with burns and bandage a wound effectively.
And finally, our intrepid Year 5 cyclists were practising their skills, including navigating obstacles and signalling on their bikes.
