Cornwall School Games 2020

Cornwall Virtual School Games – Days 1 and 2

Each day this week, more children have arrived back in school. Yesterday, our KS1 children, Year 6 and key worker children really enjoyed the different athletics challenges: standing long jump, standing high jump and speed bounce. Star of the show was Mr. Ellison, who delighted the key worker children with his incredible jumping talents.

Today, our Year 4 children returned to school, and joined in with the boccia and bowls challenges in school. As you can see from the video clip, scoring a strike in the skittles activity was highly entertaining. The other challenge today was a target throw – best of three shots- into a bucket.

And it wasn’t only the children who were having fun – many staff joined in the challenges too, scoring maximum points in their skittles and target throw activities. Today’s heroes were Mrs Issaka, Mr. Frewer, Mr. Ellison, Mr. Speer and Mrs Luxton.

Congratulations to all the children who have been taking part at home in these tasks – it is brilliant to receive your photos and see how you are getting on with the challenges. A huge well done to Gabriel, Year 4, for dressing up to take part in these challenges – and convincing others to do the same! This scores extra bonus points for the school in our daily totals. You can either submit these direct to the organisers, by clicking the results tile on the event dashboard, or you can email [email protected] and your scores will be added to our daily totals.

A big event is planned for tomorrow afternoon – Hip Hop dance. First, our Year 2, Year 4, Year 6 and key worker children will be watching the possible moves for their choreography, then we are all heading out into the sunshine for the afternoon to choreograph some routines. Several of the children will be performing live, at the start of the afternoon, to share some of the work they have completed in dance over the past year.

The forecast is hot, the music will be even hotter – and the dance? We can’t wait!
