Pupils across the Senior and Prep Schools have been ‘counting up to Christmas’ for Advent.
As the 1st of December approaches, Rev Helen has led an assembly to light the first candle of Advent at the Senior School. The first candle was lit, to signify Hope. In the coming weeks, three more candles will be lit to represent Joy, Peace and Love.
Rev Helen reminded all pupils at this busy time of year to be mindful to slow down and practice being hopeful.
Thank you to Finlay, Samson, Matt and Griff, who joined the Reverend on stage during the service, to add a festive musical element to proceedings. Thanks also to Sixth Former Elsie and her Mum Josephine who have been busy decorating the chapel with natural and foraged materials. Beautiful doves with the word ‘Peace’ embellished across them, adorn the greenery to remind us all of the need for peace within and to pray for peace around the world.
Meanwhile, at Truro School Prep and Pre-Prep, our pupils have been ‘counting UP to Christmas. Each day, a class is chosen to open a door on the Advent calendar that reveals a bit more of the reason for the season. That is then added to the staircase in Treliske House, one for every 24 days up to the end of term, enabling us all to journey through the story towards the manger with those who travelled before us 2000 years ago.
We hope that all pupils and our community can find hope during the Advent season and that it brings joy to their lives and others.
