Our pupils showed fantastic determination, camaraderie and courage as pupils, staff and families gathered to celebrate Prep’s Sports Day. Our school field looked brilliant in the summer sunshine, with a riot of colour on display supporting our four houses, Smith, School, Vinter and Wickett, and families tucked into special picnics organised by the FTS.
Events, which included the vortex throw, long jump and high jump, relays and individual track events culminated in a House tug-of-war competition to complete a fantastic day.
There were some stunning team and individual performances, with new school records set and we would like to congratulate all of our winners from the day.
Alongside our winners, it was wonderful to see all our children getting stuck in and giving different events a go, regardless of their sporting ability. This reflects the ethos behind Sport at Truro School, which fosters teamwork, participation and determination.
Mrs Luxton said of the day, “It takes courage to believe in yourself and understand that you already have what it takes. It takes boldness to know that you can do it – and we saw this magic unfold at Sports Day.
With approximately 200 children taking part in eight different track and field events, including additional events such as house relay races and house tug-of-war, there were so many special moments. At the high jump, I remember the encouragement they gave each other between jumps – whether this was a few quick words, a spontaneous cheer or a celebratory hug at the end of the event.”
We would like to thank all of the staff and helpers who made the day such a success and thank our families and pupils for creating such a wonderful, festival atmosphere.
