Year 5 played investigators for the day as they ventured to the Senior School for a CSI mystery-themed Science and Maths workshop. They started the day watching a video showing Mr Johnson having his morning tea and biscuits as usual before rapidly falling unwell. They completed four investigations working their way through Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Maths to find out who poisoned the Head.
They used microscopes to test whether caffeine raised the Daphnia’s heart rate in Biology before experimenting with infrared cameras in Physics to test for unusual amounts of radiation. The groups then explored colour in Chemistry using bunsen burners to test the effect flames had on different white substances. The last workshop of the day was in maths, where in groups, the pupils worked on coding to find out the missing piece to their puzzles.
