While pupils and staff enjoyed a well-earned rest over the Easter break, there was still plenty happening behind the scenes at Truro School.
Children continued to enjoy their time on site through our popular Holiday Club packages, organised by the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre. These included bushcraft days, multi-sport camps and an exciting drama workshop. For families looking for wraparound care during the May half term and summer holidays, a full schedule of activities will be released soon, with bookings available via the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre website, here. We’re also excited to be launching our first ever Teen Cookery School this summer, a fantastic new addition to our Holiday Club offering.
The Senior Library was transformed into a vibrant hub of colour and creativity, as quilting group Spratt and Winkle returned for their third visit. Hailing from Hampshire, the group combined their passion for sewing with their love of Cornwall, enjoying both productive workshops and local excursions, whilst staying in our boarding houses and enjoying our catering on-site – the perfect combination for their needs.
Meanwhile, Truro School Cookery welcomed back the Galley Gang for their intensive cookery workshops. With top chefs from around the world leading sessions across a variety of cuisines, participants made full use of our cookery school and boarding accommodation. Their stay culminated in a showstopping 10-Course Tasting Menu, hosted for members of the public.
Renowned artist Joe Armstrong took over the Heseltine Gallery with his beautiful display of works. The exhibition has been open to the public, and in addition to this, he has been hosting his immersive paint-along courses, which were all sold out. The exhibition continues until 30 April, and is open at weekends for anyone who missed it over the holidays.
In addition to this, we were joined on site by a film crew, hosted guest talks and presentations in The Burrell Theatre, and even enjoyed a visit from Giovanni Pernice, who led a sparkling Ballando on Tour dance workshop at the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre.
A huge thank you to all our teams for their hard work over the Easter break, and to all our guests – we hope you enjoyed your time with us as much as we enjoyed hosting you.
