Year 3 hockey v Polwhele House School
Yesterday, we took our Year 3 girls to Truro High School to play in hockey matches against Polwhele House school.
This was a momentous occasion, as it was their first ever hockey match. We arrived in good time, taking the opportunity to get used to the fast astro pitch.
Before our opposition arrived, we practised moving with the ball, push and slap hit passing, tackling and goal scoring. We even had enough time to learn some rules of hockey, by playing our teams against each other.
Winnie (Year 3) summed it all up perfectly, ‘Time flies when you’re having fun’.
Yellow team
Squad: Amelia, Lucy, Lowenna, Olivia, Chloe and Sarah.
Some incredible attacking play from Lucy, Lowenna and Olivia, which allowed the team to score several goals against their opposition. Chloe, Sarah and Amelia made great progress with their defending skills – tackling the other team with increasing confidence and learning to stay on the goal side of their opposition.
Orange team
Squad: Georgia, Honey, Violet, Rosie and Winnie.
Determined attacking play from Georgia, Honey and Winnie enabled the team to score several goals against Polwhele House School. Violet and Rosie made good progress with their defending skills – sending longer passes from free hits and moving forwards to tackle their opposition.
