Global Communications in Physics

The WAA Physics Club recently visited the PK Porthcurno Museum of Global Communications to learn about the history of the Cable & Wireless Company and its pivotal role in revolutionising global communications. Throughout the tour, pupils engaged with interactive displays that brought to life the physics principles they had been studying in the classroom. Through hands-on demonstrations and insightful explanations, the pupils developed an appreciation for the electromagnetic devices that transmit signals worldwide and the advancements that have shaped the modern world of telecommunications.

Moreover, the visit gave them a broad understanding of how a small coastal valley in West Cornwall has significantly contributed to global communications. This experience was a fantastic opportunity for the WAA Physics Club to expand their knowledge of technological evolution and see for themselves the practical applications of the theoretical concepts they have been learning in class.
