Going Bonkers for Conkers

The Truro School Prep Conker Championship got underway this week and it is safe to say that our pupils have gone bonkers for all things conkers!

The Championships, introduced last year by Truro School Prep Head Mr Morse, are a fantastic way for our children to engage in competitive play and have lots of fun with nature at this beautiful time of year.

However, the competition also provides a platform for wider learning experiences. Conker fights, banned in many schools, allow our pupils to be trusted and to gain an introduction to risk in a safe and carefully managed way. Truro School Prep prides itself on preparing our pupils for life in the real world and activities like this help them to understand and mitigate low-level risk.

It is also a wonderful way to encourage inter-year competition, as the championship cuts across friendship groups, building our Prep family and bringing us together as a team.
