Our Year 5 and 6 Hockey Teams were fortunate to be invited to the annual Plymouth College U11 and U10 hockey festival. Held at Plymouth Marjon University, it is a fun afternoon that aims to bolster a love of the sport, whilst developing hockey skills.
The festival proved to be a solid start to the season for our U11A hockey team (Eleanor, Ellie, Rozalia, Tilda, Rosie, Matilda and Lissie), who played three matches against Mount Kelly, Plymouth College and Stover schools. Despite several shots on goal in both of their initial matches, it wasn’t until the final round against Stover that they started scoring goals. Congratulations to Ellie L and Lissie C, who were both chosen as players of the match by their opposition, for their attacking and defending skills.
It was also an encouraging start to the season for our U10 team (Audrey, Endelyn, Freya, Fjola, Hennie, Sienna and Emily), who showed real determination in their matches against Mount Kelly (narrowly losing 2-1) and Plymouth College (1-0), with several shots on goal. In their final match, they started moving into space to receive passes and go on to score goals.
Well done to all of the players who were fantastic ambassadors for our school and showed incredible determination, camaraderie and courage. Thanks to the staff and parents who made the afternoon possible and to our hosts at Plymouth College.
