Kicking Off the Rugby Season at Prep

On Wednesday 18th September, our Year 5 and 6 rugby teams travelled to Plymouth to represent Truro School Prep in their first competitive fixture of the season.

Both teams faced competition from Plymouth, Stover, Trinity and Mount Kelly Prep School and faired exceptionally well. In their first competitive match as U10s, our Year 5 team was driven and developed well as the games went on, showing great promise for the season ahead.

Year 6 put in four dominant displays against their opponents, showing great strength, camaraderie and determination. Reggie stood out for his defensive work and Rory for his attacking nous. However, special mention has to go to Phoebe for scoring the try of the day; collecting the ball deep in her own half, she proceeded to sidestep, dodge and evade what seemed like the entire opposition team, before scoring in the corner of the pitch.

On a sun-soaked afternoon, the festival was a fantastic advert for rugby and showcased the wealth of benefits our pupils get from taking part in competitive sport with Truro School Prep. Thank you to all the parents who made the journey to support our teams and for their continued support of our sporting provision. Thanks also to our brilliant staff and pupils who made the day possible and such a success.
