Lighting Up Pre-Prep

As the autumn evenings have been drawing in, our youngest pupils at Truro School Pre-Prep have been celebrating light. Light parties are often held as alternatives to Halloween, thinking about celebrating living in the light.

At our Light Party, our pupils enjoyed playing games about light, making crafts that symbolise the light and listening to a story about light, all with the theme of ‘Let Your Light Shine’.

Our Truro School Puppets opened our Light Party with their entertaining version of ‘This Little Light of Mine’, led by our creative and courageous pupils from Years 5, 6 and 1st Year Seniors.

Supported by our School Chaplain, Rev Helen, pupils explored how we can shine as people when we try to live in the light, by being kind, friendly, sharing, and patient. They learnt about how Jesus described himself as ‘the Light of the World’ and how he sent others out to share his message of light.

Having made luminaries (bags of light) and Diwali lanterns, the children ended the Light Party with a joyous rendition of ‘My Lighthouse’, celebrating the goodness of light for everybody.
