Truro School Cookery is hosting a 5-day intensive course, ‘Off to University’, designed for school leavers (18+) who are about to move away from home and will be cooking for themselves, perhaps for the first time.
Running over the summer holidays and with residential and non-residential options available, the course will teach students how to cook a portfolio of quick, easy, and affordable dishes and arm them with key skills for the kitchen including budgeting, prep, and food hygiene.
The recipes over the course are quick, easy, and affordable. Students will learn a wide variety of dishes, including how to cook mince in a variety of incarnations (Bolognese, chilli con carne, ‘sloppy Joes’, lasagne), a roast dinner, soups, salads, pies, pasta, and some classic bakes.
The course also includes some student favourites like Mexican fajitas, quesadillas, and pizzas.
The course is designed so that students make and eat their own breakfasts and lunches, with dinner to take away to eat in their accommodation or at home.
