The design process extends far beyond creating a piece of art. This was the message to our Sixth Form students from our Exhibiting artist, Pete Ward, who invited the students today to help with the finishing touches to the gallery exhibition Pete Ward 2023 Expressions of an Intimate Ecology, which opens in the Heseltine Gallery on Thursday evening.
Students had a real insight into how an exhibition comes together, and they helped curate the pieces also on display from the Truro School Art Collection.
Pete talked to our students about the mechanics of setting up an exhibition, the logistics, framing, hanging and how and why he chose to exhibit the pieces and personal items on display from his collection. He explained how his concept was inspired by the chapel downstairs and how he wanted to take visitors on a creative journey through his work and gave students the opportunity to ask any questions they liked.
We are excited to welcome students, parents, fellow artists and others to the preview evening tomorrow night in the Heseltine Gallery from 5pm and to Pete Ward’s Pigment workshop on Saturday 21st.
