Four-time world champion and holder of three Olympic silver medals, Frances Houghton, dropped into School today to talk to some pupils about the ‘Power of Performance’ and how her relationship with herself and her teammates was the key to unlocking medal success.
She talked about how the change in mindset from ‘I have to win’ to ‘Let’s see what we can do together’ was the difference between the team securing silver and bronze in Rio, her fifth Olympic Games.
You could hear a pin drop in the classroom as the longest member of the GB Rowing Team talked to pupils about how she channelled twenty-one years of training into a six-minute medal-winning race.
We want to offer huge thanks to Frances for such an inspirational talk.
