Cross country at Polwhele House School
On Tuesday afternoon, we took a team of Year 3 and Year 4 children to Polwhele House School for cross country. Other schools attending included Truro High School and Polwhele House School.
All the selected children regularly attend our after-school cross country training sessions, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Due to the recent wet weather and high winds, the woods were out of action. The courses had therefore been modified to include the field space and garden areas. Year 3 had to complete a single lap of the field and garden, whereas Year 4 all completed an additional half-lap of the field.
Year 3
Squad: Nathaniel, Elliot, Harry, Solomon, Arthur, Bruce and Paddy.
This was a strong team performance, with some outstanding individual results. All of our runners finished in the top ten places in this race.
In particular, Elliot (1st place), Nathaniel (2nd place) and Bruce (3rd place).
Year 4
Squad: Sanna, Millie, Reuben, Evelyn, Theo, Archie, James, Gabriel and Thomas.
Another great team performance, with the majority of our runners finishing in the top ten places in their races.
In particular, James and Sanna (1st place), Reuben and Millie (2nd place), Thomas (3rd place).
My hero of the day was Theo, who finished in an incredible 4th place, despite having been off school (due to illness) the day before.
