Recently, our Year 3 and Year 5 dance activity groups performed their group dances to their parents and the rest of the school.
It was impossible to watch the Year 3 group dance, titled ‘Mission Impossible,’ without smiling. The children use a range of movement patterns and actions, linking them together to make short sequences. They have enjoyed collaborating and communicating with each other to create the dance.
Our Year 5 group dance was also great fun. The children also used the street dance style, but they showed that they could link together a broader range of movement patterns into longer sequences of movement.
The dance activity in activities is proving to be hugely popular – with both boys and girls enjoying a fusion of dance styles. This half-term they have focused on street dance – previous units of work have also incorporated jazz, contemporary, commercial and ballet dance styles.
Many thanks to Miss Mote, from Savvy Dance Studios, for her exciting choreography.
