U11 boys’ county hockey tournament
There was a good turn-out at this year’s U11 boys’ hockey tournament, with eight teams attending. Other teams included Devoran, Charlestown, St. Breock, St. Hilary’s, St. Mewan and St. Ives.
U11 ‘A’ team
County runners-up
Squad: Felix, Hector, Benjamin, Ellis, Maddox, Charlie, George, Luke, Roman and Toby.
Congratulations to this team, who qualified to represent Cornwall in the regional hockey tournament on 28 April 2020 at Clifton College, Bristol.
They played consistently well in their seven 15-minute matches, scoring plenty of goals and conceding just five goals during the tournament.
Special mention to Devoran School, who also qualified for the regional tournament, as tournament winners. Most of their players play for local club hockey teams; many of whom were county winners in the recent club tournament.
U11 ‘B’ team
7th in Cornwall
Squad: Jacob, Jack C, Felix B, Harry, Ben, Woody, Nathan, Gryff, Rafferty.
This team made huge progress during the tournament, despite losing several of their first games against more experienced hockey teams. Later, they lost narrowly 2-3 to our ‘A’ team, drew 1-1 with St. Mewan and finished with an exciting win over St. Breock school.
