To be or not to be..?
That was the question on Monday night when 35 pupils from the Prep School performed Hamlet to a rapturous reception at the Regal Theatre Redruth as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival.
The night was full of famous lines and moments, from Hamlet’s soliloquy to death behind the arras and the ‘Alas, poor Yorick’ speech. The cast consisted of pupils from Years 3 to 6, and the ensemble worked brilliantly together to create an impressively mature performance. What impresses most is the children’s ability to understand and convey the difficult language with meaning and purpose, even at a young age. The experience has given them a love of Shakespeare and theatre; we’re hearing various bits of Shakespeare being declared around school and in the playground now!
Many congratulations to all the cast for pulling off an incredible production.
