Prep Sports Round Up 04.04.25

As the term draws to a close we have celebrated courage and confidence in athletics and on the football pitch.

In football,  our U11 team took on a strong A-team from Archbishop Benson in an outstanding performance that saw us run out 3-2 winners and into the next round of the Rosewarne Cup. Every single player worked their football socks off with special mention to Woody L for a masterful performance and some great finishing to bag two goals after Reggie’s well-worked opener. It was a real team effort and thoroughly deserved of the win.

Our girls were also in action in a tough match against Mouth Hawke. Although Truro Prep were leading the tie for a while, a very capable Mount Hawke team pushed to an eventual win. Nevertheless, it was a good learning experience for all, especially the Truro Prep defence who gave it their all and who will have undoubtedly learned a few lessons for our next fixture. Well done to all who took part.

In athletics, we have had a super time hosting two afternoons for our Year 3s and 4s with Polwhele House and Truro High Schools on Tuesday and Years 5s and 6s on Wednesday with Bosvigo, Truro High and Polwhele House schools. Each afternoon, every child completed the following four events: a standing long jump, vertical jump, ball throw and speed bounce – before finishing with a team relay, using the reversaboards.

Well done to the following who finished in the top three:

Year 3 girls: Nola (1st – standing LJ, 1st – speed bounce), Imogen (1st – vertical jump, 3rd – standing LJ), Rose (2nd – ball throw)
Year 3 boys: Max (1st – speed bounce), Josh (1st – vertical jump, 1st – standing LJ, 2nd – speed bounce), Theo (3rd – vertical jump, 3rd – speed bounce)

Year 4 girls: Seren (2nd – ball throw), Mabel (2nd – vertical jump, 2nd – speed bounce, 2nd – ball throw).
Year 4 boys: Jack ( 1st – vertical jump, 1st – speed bounce, 1st – standing LJ), Albie (1st – ball throw, 2nd – vertical jump, 2nd – speed bounce, 2nd – standing LJ), Edward (3rd – vertical jump).

Year 5 girls: Evie (1st – standing LJ, 3rd – vertical jump)
Year 5 boys: Harry (2nd – ball throw), Rohan (3rd – ball throw)

Year 6 girls: Ellie (1st – vertical jump, 1st – ball throw, 3rd – standing LJ), Poppy (2nd – standing LJ, 3rd- vertical jump), Phoebe (1st – speed bounce), Bo (3rd – vertical jump, 3rd – ball throw)
Year 6 boys: Reggie (1st – vertical jump, 3rd – standing LJ, 3- ball throw), Scott (2nd – ball throw, 3rd – speed bounce), Henry (2nd – speed bounce, 3rd – vertical jump)

We would also like to congratulate all of our children who received their sports colours for the Spring Term 2025.
