Pupils Celebrate Excellent GCSE Results

Today is a significant milestone for Truro School’s 5th Year pupils as they celebrate a terrific set of GCSE results. Achieving far above the national averages, over one-third of all grades were 9 or 8, including nineteen pupils who achieved all grades 9 or 8. Over 52% of all grades were 9-7, stronger than last year, as also were the outcomes for grades 9-6 and 9-5.

Yet what we celebrate today is the hard work of every pupil in our School community who has tackled their GCSEs with such ambition. The overwhelming majority of pupils have the grades they need for the next steps they have chosen. This success is achieved within a wider School experience that fosters values, and that invests in and inspires sporting, musical, dramatic, and creative opportunities for all. Whether busy and engaged in School or in the community, on trips and visits here or abroad, we are tremendously proud of who our pupils are and all they achieve. Following today, we know they have the platform and the confidence to go on and enjoy the excellence delivered through our Sixth Form Diploma program or any other pathway they choose for their future education.

Among our many success stories are Diploma Scholars Sam, Jessica, Harry and Noah. Sam achieved eleven Grade 9s, the highest possible grade in every subject. Exceptionally also, Jessica, Harry and Noah achieved Grade 9s in at least eight subjects each. You can read more individual pupil stories here.

Head of Truro School, Mr Andy Johnson, congratulated the pupils saying, “We are immensely proud of all our 5th Year pupils and all their achievements in their exams and outside the classroom too. These results rightly reflect their academic abilities, dedication, and character. They open exciting doors to courses and opportunities for the years ahead. I am especially pleased, however, to celebrate this alongside the wider personal successes that are made possible by the ambitious, creative and values-based education offered at our School. The knowledge, skills, and interests these pupils have acquired are empowering them for their futures. Very well done to all.”

Pupils starting their Sixth Form journeys in September at Truro School will be supported to build on these firm foundations, working in partnership with our passionate, expert and dedicated staff. We also look forward to welcoming the many new day and boarding pupils joining us for Sixth Form from other Schools. The next exciting and inspiring educational and personal chapter begins, and we will be right by your sides throughout. Heartfelt congratulations to all pupils in all schools who collected their results today and our best wishes for all your futures.
