Ramadan Mubarak!

Led by Rev Helen, Pupils at Truro School and Truro School Prep have acknowledged the start of Ramadan by creating baskets of blessings filled with delicious figs to take home.

Today marks the beginning of a month of fasting, prayer and reflection for the Muslim community. Ramadan is a time for Muslims to renew their faith, seek forgiveness and increase self-discipline and selflessness.

Having fasted from sunrise to sundown, the fast is broken with a prayer and a meal called iftar; it is typical to break the fast with dates, a practice of the Prophet (Sunnah) and a quick way to replenish lost nutrients. Families come together to eat the dates and share gratitude and celebration before having a feast together, reflecting on their day and spiritual journey.
