We’ve had an action-packed and successful half-term across various sports, showcasing the incredible talent and determination of our pupils.
U14 Hockey – County Champions!
It was a thrilling day as Truro School hosted the U14 County Hockey tournament, with teams from Penair, Penryn, Falmouth, and Bude competing in the group stages. Truro School secured three wins to face Bude in a decisive match. Despite an early lead from Bude, our team stayed composed, equalising to win the group and progress to the semi-finals.
In a tough semi-final against Richard Lander, a brilliant penalty corner strike saw us through to the final. The final against Mounts Bay was tense, but after an early lead and a solid response from Mounts Bay, our team’s resilience shone through. A second goal secured a 2-1 victory and the County Championship! Coaches Miss Cobner and Mr Opie praised the entire squad for their teamwork and depth of talent. We now look forward to the regional finals after half-term. Congratulations, team!
Football Success for U14 Boys
Our U14 boys’ football team advanced in the ESFA competition after a well-deserved win against St Ives School. A great display of teamwork and skill – well done, boys!
U14 Netball Triumph
The U14 netball team showed their strength in a hard-fought victory over Penrice Academy, qualifying for the next round of the Sisters n Sport National Plate Competition. Indie was outstanding and earned the Player of the Match award – congratulations!
U16 Netball – A Strong Effort
Our U16 netball team gave it their all against Torquay Academy. After a closely contested first quarter, the team battled through to maintain a competitive gap but narrowly missed out on victory. Fleur’s excellent play earned her Player of the Match. Thank you to Mrs Wyatt and Miss Bickley for your support. We’re excited to see the team’s continued progress after the break.
England Hockey Talent Academy
A special mention goes to Summer R and Sophie D, who have been selected for the England Hockey Talent Academy based in Exeter. Their passion for the sport and dedication to improvement has seen them through a rigorous selection process. We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to their continued development!
1st Year Rugby House Matches
Our 1st Year boys had a fantastic introduction to house rugby matches, playing with enthusiasm and excellent sportsmanship. The result came down to the final rounds – a thrilling experience for all involved. Check out the video to see which house came out on top!
Trampolining
Some of our 1st Year pupils took to the trampolines as part of their gymnastics PE rotation. They worked hard on building their confidence and skills, progressing through shapes, turns, and even synchro routines!
More Hockey Success
It’s been a busy week for our hockey teams. The U12 and U13 girls secured wins against Mount Kelly, while the U14s defeated Penryn and Penair as they gear up for next week’s county tournament, aiming for a third consecutive title. The U15s played an excellent match against Truro High’s U16 team, showcasing some impressive hockey.
In a nail-biting mixed-age boys’ game against Penryn College U16s, both teams battled hard in a 5-5 draw. Well done to all involved!
Clara G-D Fencing Achievements
A massive well done to Clara G-D, who performed brilliantly in both U17 and U20 fencing competitions, progressing through several rounds and overcoming two former Spanish champions. Clara has qualified for the Spanish team championships – an incredible achievement!
Showjumping
The past two months have been incredible for Delilah and Magnus III, who competed in two national competitions at Stoneleigh and Hickstead. They placed 3rd in the Kids on Horse section and 10th in the Open 90cm scurry class, representing Cornwall on the U21 team.
Delilah’s outstanding achievements were also recognised at the British Showjumping Annual Ball, where she was named the Southwest Junior Showjumping Winner 2024. Well done Delilah!
Tennis Teams Reach Regional Finals
Congratulations to our boys’ tennis team, who secured their place in the LTA Year 9-11 Regional Final after a fantastic performance against West Buckland. Mrs Homer praised their maturity and composure. Buzz, Ben, Jonny, and Jacob – well done on your success!
Our girls’ team has also qualified and will join the boys at Bath University next month for the finals. We can’t wait to see how both teams perform!
Rowing
A huge congratulations to our rowers, who delivered outstanding performances. Tom B, Samson H, and Arlo G competed in the U18 open category, winning their race and becoming national champions. Maddie B rowed in the U18 women’s category, achieving an impressive second place. Martha M also excelled in the U16 women’s category, securing second place.
It’s been a half-term full of achievements, and we couldn’t be prouder of all our pupils, students and staff. We look forward to more exciting updates after the break!
